YICHU 1.0 – DREAM is a still from Yichu Li’s acclaimed moving-image series YICHU 1.0, an audiovisual exploration of identity, consciousness, and posthuman transformation. The image captures a haunting dialogue between a woman and her reflection — multiplied through mirrors, shadows, and digital perception. In this dreamlike chamber, her gaze meets that of the machine, of herself, and of another species. The sheep, both organic and artificial, becomes a silent witness to the dissolution of self.

This piece examines the blurring boundary between self and screen — between what is seen and what is simulated. Drawing on Yichu’s ongoing inquiry into the female gaze, AI embodiment, and techno-spirituality, DREAM turns the act of looking into an existential ritual. It questions how digital media mediates intimacy, alienation, and memory in an era where identity is both constructed and dissolved through technology.
